Albuquerque groups come together to put on Juneteenth events for 2024
June 15 - June 19
June 19, 1865, is a day commemorated annually across the nation, marking the end of slavery in the United States. In 2021, Juneteenth became recognized as a federal holiday, and each year, the celebrations get even larger in the Duke City.
This year, the New Mexico Black Leadership Council, the City of Albuquerque, and the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Office are coming together to put on a handful of Juneteenth events. Below are some of the events going on in Albuquerque:
- Saturday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Black Business Summit
- Business discussions, networking, local vendors, and raffle prizes.
- At the Albuquerque Convention Center
- Free to attend

- Wednesday, June 19, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. – Juneteenth Freedom Flow Yoga
- Outdoor yoga class open to all levels.
- At Academy Hills Park
- Free to attend; donations encouraged

- Wednesday, June 19, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. – Juneteenth Celebration
- Live performances, vendors, food trucks, and a kids’ zone. Attendees are encouraged to wear white at 11 a.m. for the opening ceremony.
