Occupation Description

Plans, organizes, or coordinates the activities of a social service program designed to create and maintain a favorable public image for The Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission. Engages in fundraising, plans, and directs activities to solicit and maintain funds for special projects and nonprofit organizations.

Nature of Work

Employee in this classification is involved in planning, development, implementation of programs designed to create and maintain a favorable public image for the Commission.

Employee will plan, develop, and implement effective program procedures for efficient, targeted, and measurable services and outcomes. They also will help to clarify the organization’s point of view to the community.

Basic

  • Assist in maintaining contact with stakeholders, customers, and the public.
  • Perform standardized duties in the capacity of collecting and disseminating information.
  • Assist Executive Director with public speaking and coordinating special events.
  • Assist in determining public relations needs, and coordinate projects with management, administrative, and technical staff.
  • Assist with conducting research on social, economic, and political trends that may impact the organization.

Recommended Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business administration with emphasis in Marketing and journalism, advertising. Any combination of education from and accredited college or University in related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling (4) four years may substitute for required education.
