COMMISSIONER VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission for the State of New Mexico is seeking qualified individuals to fill two vacant Commissioner seats.
Background
At the January 28, 2026 meeting of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, the Chair announced that he intends to appoint two Commissioners to serve through the unexpired portions of the terms of the two vacant Commissioner seats on the Commission no later than February 28, 2026, pursuant to NMSA 1978, Section 28-19-1.
Position Overview Commissioners serve on a volunteer basis. Commissioners have a vital role in advancing the Commission’s mission.
Responsibilities and expectations include:
• Regular attendance at Commission meetings
• Representation of the Commission in community engagement activities throughout New Mexico
• Supporting the Commission in fulfilling its mission to honor Dr. King’s legacy
